The Robert L. Taylor Community Complex is a 44,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility featuring a fitness center, gym, recreational programming, swimming pool and much more. The regulation turf field is a popular venue for football, soccer and lacrosse youth and adult leagues, especially at night under the lights.

All six docks and piers were replaced with long-lasting composite decking to withstand the daily exposure to extreme weather conditions sea salt.

Parks and Recreation

Amaryllis Park Place is under construction and will offer 84 apartments with a mix of one- and two-bedroom units for low-income senior residents. Lofts on Lemon, also under construction, will feature 130 workforce and affordable apartments.

Neighborhood improvements include the installation of decorative neighborhood signage and street lighting, and construction of brick paver crosswalks and traffic calming structures.

The Lido Pavilion is undergoing a full renovation with a new concession roof, paint, outdoor seating area and furniture, shade canopies, landscaping, signage, sidewalks and modernized public restrooms.
Transportation and Sidewalks

A confusing and dangerous traffic signal at Five Points in downtown was replaced with a safe, user-friendly brick paver roundabout. Roundabouts were also constructed at the intersections of Orange Avenue and Ringling Boulevard, U.S. 41 and 10th Street and U.S. 41 and 14th Street.

The Multi-Use Recreational Trail (MURT) for walkers, runners and bicyclists was built at Bird Key Park with accompanying landscape improvements. The trail has been extended to St. Armands Key, allowing for protected mobility from downtown to St. Armands Circle. An additional 1.5 miles of new sidewalks connecting neighborhoods to schools and local parks have been constructed throughout the city for enhanced mobility and connectivity.

An average of 11 miles of streets throughout the city have been resurfaced annually.
Public Safety

Since 2009, a total of 203 Sarasota Police Department vehicles have been replaced to support and enhance officer safety.
